Professional development that begins with your own experience · Live Online · September 2026

You hold the space for others. This seminar holds it for you.

Five practices and quiet studio work on your own image – self-experience that carries directly into your professional work. A discreet weekend for coaches, counsellors, psychotherapists and art therapists who want to meet their own uncertainty before they meet it in the room.

You scroll through the news in the morning. Before the first thought is complete, something has already tightened in your chest. An hour later, a client sits across from you — speaking about their fear of the future — and you notice your own is still in the room.

A great deal is pressing on us right now. Uncertainty, crises, geopolitical turbulence, the weight of holding space for others while quietly carrying your own. As coaches and therapists, we are affected first — before we can make it a theme in the room.

This seminar begins with you. And it begins at the image. Only what you know of your own unsettledness can you truly hold in others.

What settles in you costs less to carry — into the next session, and the one after that.

For whom

Coaches, counsellors, psychotherapists, and art therapists who work with people.

This seminar is for practitioners who sense that the conditions of the time are also at work within them. The individual concepts unfold during the seminar itself. What you bring is a willingness to look at your own material and to work with simple image-making means.

You are here first as a person in process — and then as a professional. No artistic skill is required. No prior knowledge of the concepts is expected. Participation is conducted entirely in English.

Along the way, you also pick up practical know-how in art-therapeutic and art-coaching methods — tools you can carry straight into your own work with clients.

What you will be able to do

You notice earlier when your own nervous system tips into alarm — and find your way back to a state from which you can still choose.

You use image-making to surprise your own predictions and see a stuck situation afresh.

You recognise in your own image the relational patterns from your family of origin that run quietly in the present.

You find finer words for what is already present in the body and the image.

You hold ambiguity long enough for a new meaning to emerge.

You meet the moments that used to catch you off guard — a client's crisis, a sudden silence, your own flare of anxiety — from steadier ground.

You carry these capacities into your work — and pass them on — because you have lived them in yourself.

How we hold the space

Three things that matter before you decide.

Confidentiality

What is shared in the group stays in the group. This space is held for your own process, never as performance. There are no right images, no assessed outcomes, no shared recordings. Your process is yours alone.

A professional frame

This is a professional development seminar. You work with your own material — at the depth you choose — and remain the author of your own process throughout.

Dignity in the group

The group is small by design — no more than 15 participants. Sharing is always by invitation, never by expectation. You will never be asked to disclose more than feels right.

About me

Prof. Hildrun Rolff

I am a Professor of Art Therapy, art coach, and artist. For more than 40 years I have worked with images — and with what people show of themselves in them before they find words for it.

How to remain present with oneself when much is in motion is a question that has accompanied me throughout this time. I have led seminars and trainings across Europe and Asia, and I hold the conviction that professional depth begins with personal honesty.

More about my work

Voices from earlier seminars

Hildrun is an online seminar professional. You couldn't imagine that art therapy would work online, but Hildrun can. Not only does she have a beautiful voice, but she also has a great sense of humor.

EvaArt therapist

Deep clinical experience met surprisingly simple interventions that opened real reflection — and I could put what I learned into direct practice, then bring it back for supervision with a highly competent group. A truly outstanding training.
